My wildlife journey started in the UK with our native species, Fox, Badger, Deer and Owls. Mammals taught me an immense amount about the need for good fieldcraft, much more important than any photo skills for wildlife. You can have all the latest gear but if you can’t get close enough to use it the images will be mediocre. I really enjoy long term projects, I spent 9 months obsessing over local badgers, 12 months with urban foxes and 6 months with Great Crested Grebes. Projects are great for pushing you to better your images every visit, to always go that bit further in the pursuit of something different.
